We all do it and we all know it but we rarely use it. It’s called Observational Marketing.
Warning! This is not theory, it is better than theory, its real life marketing and it works! Observational Marketing is a very simple technique that will breathe hundreds of new ideas into your business.
How many times will you see a great slogan, a brilliant advert, or experience fantastic service? 99% of the time you will acknowledge it, smile, or even comment but that’s it….. you do nothing more about it.
From today sharpen your observational skills to help boost your marketing successes within your own business.
Quite simply, all you need to do is observe both the positive and negative aspects of marketing. For example; the promotional signage that stops you in your path, the radio advert that makes you reach to increase the volume, or the customer service that makes you feel warm inside. Once you have been surprised or delighted by that particular piece of marketing – you MUST write it down. In fact, write down ALL of the ideas that made you happy, delighted or pleasantly surprised. But also take note of the poor signage, the awful customer service and the marketing that shocked you, and write them down too!
Over the coming weeks you will arm yourself with dozens of great and not so great marketing ideas, so here’s what to do…….
Go through every one of your marketing observations in your next marketing meeting. At this meeting you need to share your ideas with your team and see if you can adapt just one of your great observations. The truth is if it amazed you, made you read, take note or act, then it could well have the same effect on your customers! But be careful not to bring any poor marketing or negative service into your business!
